I saw this play, “That’s Weird, Grandma,” and sheesh I laughed like I hadn’t in a long time. This ensemble cast takes short stories written by Chicago Public School students. They take many of the stories to surreal over-the-top Seussian heights. Or in one case read potty humor poetry in the fashion of a pretentious English professor. If you are near Chicago, I highly recommend it! Even though the stories were written by kids, the play is not solely for kids. I loved it, and so did the youngsters (age 6 and 11). The group that does the play, Barrel of Monkeys, teaches creative writing at Chicago Public Schools.

Every Monday night at 8 pm, and until March 24th 2007, Matinees on Saturday at 2 pm (click here for $2 off coupon)

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children at The Neo-Futurarium, 5153 North Ashland Ave, (Ashland & Foster) Chicago
