Viruses as food additive?
According to this article from the AP on CNN.com, the FDA has approved bacteriophage viruses to be used as a food additive in prepared meats (lunch meats, hot dogs, etc). “The special viruses, called bacteriophages, are meant to kill strains of the Listeria monocytogenes bacterium…” Well, that’s great and all, but “Consumers won’t be aware that meat and poultry products have been treated with the spray…“. Kind of reminds me of this.

Ugh. So now bacteria are waging war on my lunchmeat. I might be revisiting vegetarianism soon.
